Try to create one. A level playing field is a myth. There is no such thing, not even in highly regulated and controlled sports. All athletes enter a chosen sport with a particular background, genetic make-up and history. These create head starts or drawbacks.

We all have the ingredients that offer us significant head starts in some form or manner. The challenge is that we don’t know what they are. We chose sports based on exposure or the opinion of others. We end up competing in races that contradict our inclinations.

Embracing our natural talents, passions, history, culture, experiences, genes, networks are the first step to activating our head start. In the race which we have a unique competitive advantage, we tend to thrive.

Some call it purpose.
