We prefer to think that our lives follow a set plan. We know where we are going and how to get there. Until we don’t. Then we get really good at convincing ourselves this was the plan all along.

There is only one plan worth following. It consists of broad outlines drawn in pencil based on what we know right now. That’s it. The rest we make up as we go along. It’s less about predicting and more about responding.

When you captain the titanic you need to spot the icebergs long in advance.

Fighter pilots adjust on the fly.

Where can you make a difference right now? How can you make a bigger difference tomorrow?
