Offering value to someone is only sustainable when we give away fruits instead of chopping off branches. Achieving this requires that we give from a full cup. No matter the size of your cup, giving from the excess (overflow) costs you nothing.
When we start dipping into our reserves, we reduce our ability to serve others. We can only give what we have. Empty cups help no-one.
Filling your cup is a matter of personal preference. Certainly, it’s useful to spend time with people who make you better. Give from your own abundance. Look for people who will invest in your roots and prune your branches.
Leaders are most susceptible. So many people want you to give. So few are willing to recognise that you also need to get.
