It’s so much better when we know this upfront. What are we in for? There is always a sacrifice required in exchange for change. You cannot expect to change things by doing them the same way. It will cost you something.
Figuring this out down the line makes us feel cheated. Like we were duped into it by some schemester who dragged us along for the ride as far as he possibly could. Scaling commitment works for a while, but will eventually hit a ceiling, and when it does, it breaks down all relationships and trust in the process.
Rarely worth it.
Which brings me to the point. We tend to mind the cost of commitment less when we understand that not engaging in the first place has a cost too. Staying the same without growth or progress is likely more expensive.
Just help me quantify it accurately. Explain the costs in advance.
