They usually follow just after you got knocked back. Fresh off the failure. Your next move sets the tone. We would all rather cower in self-pity, contemplating how our fate is harsher, our knocks harder, our luck unbelievably bad. This is the ideal circumstances for the birth of something powerful.

We recognise these moments instantly. We the split second before a gymnast gets up, or a cyclist gets back on. We instinctively know the fight raging inside and feel overwhelmed when they respond in bravery.

It is these precious moments that shape culture.  It is these brave steps that reframe our world.
