It’s usually a fix for anticipation or anxiety.
The first is a positive future state of affairs for which we hope to accelerate the timeline. The second is an uncertain future state of affairs that tends to get us dwelling on the worst-case scenarios.
Both manifest in haste. Predominantly this expresses in our decision making. We fast track everything that seems like a hurdle to resolution. The irony is that in our haste we compromise the very future we hope to arrive at sooner.
The opposite of haste in not slothfulness, it’s patience.
