The critical ingredient to any collaboration. We do not need to share outcomes, objectives or even priorities. We do need to work towards shared value.

This requires a profound understanding of what each party values in the collaboration. What objectives do they hope to achieve? What outcomes are critical for them? Once we understand what they value, we are able to accommodate it in the design and priority matrix.

Collaboration includes work that would otherwise not be necessary, but then, it also includes benefits that would otherwise not be available. Shared value is not a given. It is the result of hard work intentional design.

When we get it right synergy works in our favour.
