It’s an idea. So fragile in its infancy that we dare not handle it brashly. An idea that true freedom, in it’s purest form, is not determined by means, influence, status or connections. It finds expression in our ability to live the life that most resembles our passions and gives opportunity to the unique contribution we have to offer the world.
Pursuit of this idea usually starts with a break from the status quo. This upsets peoples expectations, offends sensibilities, and hurts feelings. Mostly though, it forces others to confront the same question and face an uncomfortable reality.
So starts the walk to freedom. If history is any indication, such walks are long.
