It’s a time of the year when many people tend to slow down. This creates a cascading effect. We prefer not to start things that we will then have to leave hanging over the festive season. The result is that we delay decisions, postpone work and shelf opportunities.
Slowing down is valuable. It offers time to reflect, gain perspective and plan. It creates breathing room for focus and taking stock. If doing so requires us to stop performing this is a key indicator of another underlying problem.
My business should not be so dependent on my decision making, presence or involvement that performs declines or halts when I am taking time to think. If it does, this tells me that I need to design better processes that continue to produce in my absence.
They are independent variables.
Perhaps, this festive season is the perfect time to reflect on that.
Great post!
