The first is a virtue. It is the wisdom of time. The ability to distinguish the season we are in and our progress within it. Patience is a posture of expectancy. Like an athlete in the starting blocks in the set position waiting for the gun to go off.
All the muscles are in tension, ready to release in a coordinated maximum effort toward a unified goal. Patience is a state of readiness.
Passivity is a state of consumption. We offer up our say. We are not primed to explode into action. We cruise by, unprepared and uncommitted.
On the surface, these two may look the same, but behind the scenes, one is prepared and the other is entitled. It might be hard to spot the difference.
Posture is revealed under pressure.
Passivity buckles. Patience prevails.
