Life happens. It occasionally leaves all our best-laid plans up in flames. We don’t plan for it. We never think it will happen to us. The stats are not in your favour.
A fire sale is the best way to make something good of a bad situation. Get some value out of what’s left. It’s better than a total loss. It creates the potential for your creation to live on, not as the caterpillar you created, but perhaps as the butterfly, it discovered the potential it had to be.
The important thing to consider is that value in these situations is determined by the value the bidder can derive from the asset, not the value you used to.
Still, it’s better than nothing.
It’s hard to accept. When we think of all the time, effort and energy we invested in building, creating and surviving. These are all sunk costs. Time to look ahead and change what we can.
