Distractions

Yes, there are many. It’s unrelenting and penetrating.

The fix is easy. Work in a place without distractions. You might be surprised to find that this is not as easy as you think. The longest anyone has been able to stand the world’s quietest room is 45 min.

So perhaps the answer to distraction is not environment but focus.

Focus is merely the prioritization of attention. In a world where everyone is competing for yours as if it’s theirs to command and control, how refreshing is it to discover your attention is for you to give, not for others to take.

Like any muscle, it might be weak due to years of neglect. Like any muscle, it becomes stronger when you train it. It pays to develop your ability to focus.

This way your attention becomes your asset instead of someone else’s commodity.

It’s the most valuable asset in the world today. Give it away for free if you like.
