Farmers probably understand this better than everyone. You could eat your seed. It will feed you once or twice. You could plant the seed, and harvest enough to feed you for a month. Or you could replant your first harvest and feed a whole town for a year.
Once we reached the point of abundance our perspective needs to shift. Discovering abundance creates responsibility. It is not meant for one person. It is meant for the benefit of the many.
Stewardship means we grow as much as we can without compromising our ability to grow in future, keep what we need to plant in the future and offer the rest for consumption.
Too often we view abundance as the point where we stop worrying about tomorrow.
Abundance is the point where we start taking responsibility for tomorrow.
