Lessons in Thankfulness

Today is one of my favourite days of the year. Every week we write a note listing all the things we are thankful for that week and place it in our thanksgiving jar. Today is the day we crack it open.

Every year I am amazed by the sheer number of increadible things for which I am thankful. A year is a long time. When we reflect, we remember only the big-ticket items. The life-changing events. Life happens in increments. Progress is incremental. One brick on top of the other. Reading through our year as experienced week by week puts it all back into perspective.

As entrepreneurs, we get so overwhelmed by the size of our dreams and the magnitude of our failures and setbacks that we forget the incremental progress. Practicing thanksgiving builds our resilience. It shifts our thinking to opportunity mindedness. It helps us to realise that despite the uphill battle of building a business, the journey continues to inspire and rejuvenate.

May you discover the joys in thanksgiving.

Your ability to keep going may depend on your capacity to find the silver lining.
