Slow = Smooth = Fast

When success depends on the quality of the execution, smooth is best. It might take longer, but it avoids mistakes. Mistakes cause failure. When you are in food production, you cannot afford mistakes. It makes no sense to increase productivity if this also increases the risks of contaminated food.

When success depends on completion, slow is not your friend and quality is not the goal. Completion matters when we do things the first time. When we are not sure what we are looking for. It matters in exploring.

Mostly though, we are confronted with both. Your business is somewhere on the continuum between quality and speed. Finding the perfect balance for your business, that might just be the greatest accomplishment.
