This is one of the most underappreciated and even ignored aspects of a new business. The culture the founders create will determine the success of the business.
It is often overlooked since founders are busy trying to make the business work. We worry about culture when we employ our first or second or 10th employee. The challenge is that a large portion of the culture is based on the behaviours and beliefs of the founder team. It’s really hard to change behavioural patterns you have reinforced for so long.
Decisions founders make in the beginning could determine the framework within which their potential will be defined.
For something so important we spend very little time on it.
